What is a Health Coach? 

 

A health coach is a wellness advocate and supportive mentor who can motivate and empower you to develop and adopt positive health choices.

Health coaches work in partnership with you, providing a judgement-free zone to help you learn to identify your values and priorities. 

 
 

 
 

What can a health coach do for you?

 

Health coaches advocate and educate, supporting you to achieve your health goals through lifestyle and behavior adjustments and adaptations. You might think of your health coach as your own personal Sherpa, guiding you through all phases of wellness, including physical conditions, nutrition, sleep, stress reduction, movement/exercise and your day-to-day relationships.

 
 

 
 

What a health coach is not

 

A health coach is not a doctor. We don’t diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, or recommend changes to your current medications. We are not doctors, nurses, therapists, personal trainers or nutritionists/dieticians. Health coaches do not treat disease or psychiatric conditions, and we do not diagnose or prescribe, or provide therapy.

A health coach does not tell you what to do, nor will we ever judge you if you don’t meet a goal.

You are always in the driver’s seat, and can progress at your own pace. If you want to bring more intensity to your program, or dial it back, it’s all up to you. 

 
 

 
 

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE SESSIONS?

 

Initially there is an intake session so we can discuss where you are with your health and what areas you would like to work on.  Once that is established, the sessions are 45 minutes in length.  During those sessions we cover what went well and what needs to be worked on.  What roadblocks or barriers you may have encountered and why they are there.  As a coach I can offer (with your permission) different techniques, information or strategies to help you improve your health. During the session we co-create measurable goals that you feel comfortable with and that are practical for you.

 
 

 
 

WHAT ISSUES CAN BE ADDRESSED DURING COACHING SESSIONS?

 

In coaching sessions you will be the one who determines what health-related topics you want to focus on.   Your wellness issues can be interconnected between various health areas and you can explore that during the sessions.
